As the world turns from Texas to the next primary and caucus states, let me say, Hillary Clinton ain’t won nothing yet here in Texas. At last word, we were taking the lion’s share of the caucus delegates. They are still counting and I am afraid the Powers-That-Be might try to steal these also. Will they steal the last hope of the poor?

Before Hillary Clinton strut her wings and crow like a rooster-hen on her merry way to the 2008 Democratic nomination, let me say this: It’s not over in Texas. As of this hour, they are still counting the late night caucus votes. It is possible that Hillary Clinton may have won the plurality vote, but Barack Obama might win the caucus delegate vote.
Hillary Clinton chalks us this plurality victory as a boasting right for winning another “big state”. The bottom line is the number of delegates.
The Texas for Obama volunteers fought a good fight to help Barack Obama overcome an original 30% deficit. But last night Hillary Clinton won 51% of the plurality vote, which may translate into an additional 2 delegates from the state. But delegates coming out of precinct caucus favored Obama by 52%, which could translate into 2 or more delegates the other way.
Eddie Griffin is one of the Tarrant County Precinct elected delegates for Obama. This is the first part of the story of our last stand in Texas.
The Powers-That-Be set out to stop the Obama Express. We would be naïve to think Barack Obama does not have powerful adversaries. But the Powers-That-Be are so sneaky, secretive, and deliberate that when they throw a rock and hide their hands, they think nobody can see them.
They create delusive appearances of fair and equal. Yet, they have robbed, stolen, and cheated all of their lives. Why should we think that, all of a sudden, they are going to begin to act honestly? They have not an honest bone in their body.
Barack Obama ran up against those Powers-That-Be in Texas, and so did we all.
He that is without sin cast the first stone.
It was not enough for the mass media to find a clean and refreshing candidate with a lot of hope. No, the networks had to try to massacre Obama’s untarnished character.
But I remember an Obama speech where he admitted, “I am not a perfect man, and I probably win not be a perfect president… but you will always know where I stand and I will listen to your concerns, everyday that I am in the Whitehouse.”
The mote in eye of Barack Obama is a beam in Hillary Clinton’s eye.
It is not enough for Obama to recognize a real estate deal with a friend of dubious character as a “bone-headed mistake”. Now they would either hold Barack accountable to someone else’s hidden character, or make false pretenses of corruption.
Hillary Clinton opted to do the latter, with a closet full of dead men’s bones.

Rosalyn writes: I am so ashamed to be a Texan today! I want Mr. Obama to know that he should have won the state of Texas. I have family and friends all over the state of Texas who are all saying the same thing. First of all, conservatives like Rush Limbaugh encouraged Republicans to vote for Hillary in the primaries and I know that some did. Those same people did not want to commit enough to return to the caucuses. The support for Mr. Obama at the caucuses was overwhelming compared to little or no support for Hillary Clinton. People in Texas are so discouraged. We do not believe the outcome is accurate and trust me when I say that the Democratic Party had better be very careful with assuming that voters will continue to support a dirty party… If Mr. Obama wants to win, it's time for him to pressure Ms. Clinton with the hard questions.

There is no one in this whole wide world that is more disappointed at Obama losing Texas it is Eddie Griffin. After all, I saw what they did to the image of his character within the last 72 hours of the March 4 primaries.
Let me say that everybody on the Obama Team fought a good fight. In the end, they say, Hillary Clinton won Texas. She won a total of 2 candidates by plurality vote. We, of the Obama Team, is fighting to gain the caucus delegate vote. It looks like we at least gained back the 2 lost delegates in the precinct caucuses. But it was an ugly fight in Texas on convention night.
There were hundreds of complaints filed with the Elections Administrators. This was a Texas nightmare, of which we warned the Tarrant County Commissioners.
I share in your passion and also in your belief, when you write:
I am encouraging people to keep the faith and to get more involved in the fight. We see that Mr. Obama is a gentleman, but do not ever congradulate cheaters. They are so comfortable with stealing votes and there is no honor in that. That alone is why so many Americans have not voted previously.
As I told others, we had a three-to-one advantage on the ground. It showed in early voting, where Obama immediately opened up a 50,000 vote lead. We won the precinct caucus that night. So, how did we lose the mass vote? I have speculated that question, but there are some real factors that contributed to Obama’s defeat.
What Barack Obama Must Do
Keep the high road and keep the hope alive. Never mind that they threw everything at you, including the Kitchen Sink. Never stoop as low as your opponent.
Swallow your pride, if you see your lose in Texas as a defeat. Run on for the helpless and the hopeless. Keep your head straight and be proud to be the first African-American President of the United States.

Obama is finally asking Clinton some questions--here's a few more he should ask:
ReplyDeleteYour husband made controversial pardons at the end of his term. Did you have anything to do with those pardons--especially Marc Rich and the Hasidim in upstate New York? If so, will you release any documents, etc. on them? If not, do you denounce and reject those pardons?
You and your husband have refused to release the donor list from his Presidential library, leading many to think that payoffs for political favors, including the pardons, were funneled through the Library. Will you release those records, and will you pledge that, if elected, your Library's books will be open and transparent? and
Will you finally release your White House papers that the Clinton Library has refused to release?
Fair questions, I think-- all of which relate to her supposed governmental experience and honesty
I think it is time to gather all the black bloggers around a statement. Namely this:
ReplyDelete(1) The Democratic party base has spoken. The numbers show that Mrs. Clinton has lost this race for the nomination.
(2) Mrs. Clinton's increasingly shrill attacks against Mr. Obama has taken on the airs of racism.
(3) That is regrettable because via the candidacy of Mr. Obama for the first time in the electoral history of this nation, the vast majority of African-American stand united with untold millions of white Americans and Americans of all colors.
(4) It appears that Mrs. Clinton is about to shatter this historic unity.
(5) We therefore call on Mrs. Clinton to face the reality of the numbers, concede defeat and thereby heal this wound which she has opened and continues to widen.
(6) It is clear that Mrs. Clinton can not be considered for the Vice-Presidential slot on the Democratic ticket. Mrs. Clinton has denigrated Mr. Obama to the point that any possible praise she would heap on him as a member of the Democartic ticket would ring hollow and hypocritical.
(7) If the Democratic Party leadership were to nullify our votes by giving Mrs. Clinton the nomination despite the popular vote, we call on all African-Americans to withdraw their support from the Democratic Party and to stay at home. We have survived eight years under President Bush, we will survive four years under a President McCain. We will NOT survive the nullification of our most hard-fought for right - our votes.
